I am a meteorologist working in operational forecasting and severe weather warnings at the German Weather Service. Alongside my forecasting work, I share insights from my research and fieldwork in Antarctica through photo presentations and lead educational trips focused on climate and ocean science. I hold a Master’s degree in Climate Physics, completed in 2024 at Kiel University and the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, including a semester abroad at the University of Tasmania and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies..

During my studies I had the chance to join multiple research cruises:

  • DY113 in 2020: Drake Passage and Weddell Sea on board the RRS Discovery

  • SO284 in 2021: Tropical Atlantic on board the FS Sonne

  • PS140 in 2023/24: Prydz Bay in East Antarctica on board the FS Polarstern

  • M207 in 2025: Tropical Atlantic on board FS Meteor

My master thesis was based on seawater samples I collected in East Antarctica on board FS Polarstern on the EASI-2 cruise 2023/2024. After extensive lab work extracting Neodymium from the samples I used the results to gather insights into currents and processes in the Prydz Bay and near the Denman Glacier.

Find out more about my work in this (german) TV Report which is based on video material filmed by me during the expedition.
